Former bv owner Jennifer Mitchell now Actor & Screen Writer

Jennifer Mitchell, former owner of blue velvet salon, moved to NYC a few years ago to pursue her dreams of being a part of the entertainment industry. Since she has performed in numerous plays, commercials and television spots. Success has come again, as her play "A Broken Barbie" makes it's debut. She wrote the play and also stars in the production.

Leslie joined our team about 6 months ago, It's my fault that she isn't on the website yet. I just didn't do it, I don't have an excuse. I'm human, sometimes things slip :)
Leslie is an angel!! We all adore her! She is as kind as she is beautiful and a very talented stylist. Leslie graduated from the Paul Mitchell academy in 2006, work at a Paul Mitchell salon for a year, then wanted to broaden her horizons. We feel blessed that she's become a part of our team. Thanks Niki,Leslie & Brittney! We did a hair cut-a-thon at Book,Bean & Candle in May. I finally found the pictures from the event. We did a lot of hair, each cut cost only $10 and proceeds went to the Children of Gaia charity. We plan to do another cutathon when the weather cools down.

Market Day 2009 A Success!

Whether it is the mild summer weather, the steep discounts or the recent launch of an advertising campaign bringing out the crowds, Mountain Brook Village shop owners could not be more pleased with today's turnout for Market Day.


Despite the nationwide recession, people are out strolling and spending at the 8 a.m.-5 p.m. event.

"It's even better" than last year, said Marguerite Ray, owner of Marguerite's Conceits boutique. "I'm so exhausted."

With many shops offering especially discounted items under outdoor tents in front of their stores, people with baby carriages and dogs are able to enjoy the unseasonably comfortable weather and find bargains.
